MCA Information Awards Open for CY 2026 Nominations
The Marine Corps is accepting nominations for the Marine Corps Association (MCA) Information Awards covering calendar year 2026. Activated reservists from the SMCR, AR, and IRR who served on active duty at any point during 2026 are eligible.

The Marine Corps is replacing "AI" with "SI" in official documents
A new executive order renamed "Artificial Intelligence" to "Super Intelligence." The Marine Corps is now directing all commands to use "SI" instead of "AI" in official correspondence, websites, briefings, and policy documents going forward.

MOS 6053 (CH-53K Maintenance Specialist) requirements updated for FY27
The Marine Corps dropped OJT as a valid pathway to earn NMOS 6053 and now requires completion of a specific transition or initial accession course. This affects Marines in MOS 6113, 6153, 6173, or 6323 who work on or are transitioning to the CH-53K.

Commands can no longer send you to the IRR just to free up a billet slot
A long-standing admin practice of transferring SMCR and IMA Marines to the IRR to vacate a billet is now prohibited. Instead, commands must request an Excess Billet Identification Code assignment to keep you in Selected Reserve status while you're at PME or on ADOS orders.

PDMRA is cancelled. Stop submitting claims now.
The Marine Corps has cancelled the Post-Deployment Mobilization Respite Absence (PDMRA) program effective immediately. Marines must stop filing unused PDMRA claims, and administrators will no longer process them.

FY27 RC Corporal and Sergeant Promotion Guidance

FY28 CBRND Warrant Officer Program Is Open to Any MOS
The Marine Corps is recruiting enlisted Marines from any MOS to apply for PMOS 5702, CBRND Officer, through the FY28 Enlisted to Warrant Officer selection boards. Reserve Marines have a dedicated regional POC and are encouraged to submit draft packages for early review before the formal board deadline.

Maven Smart System is now available to all Marine Corps commands, including MARFORRES
As of 1 October 2026, the Marine Corps has enterprise-wide licensing for Maven Smart System (MSS), an AI-enabled data and command-and-control platform. Marine Forces Reserve is now explicitly covered, meaning reserve commands at all echelons can get accounts.

Reserve enlisted Marines eligible for GEICO's $5,000 service award
GEICO is accepting nominations for its 2026 Military Service Awards, which recognize one enlisted member per service branch for community and military contributions. Reserve enlisted Marines E-7 and below with at least a year of service remaining after December 2026 are eligible, and the winner gets a $5,000 cash honorarium.

Adoption expense reimbursement rules updated for Active and Reserve Marines
The Marine Corps updated its administrative process for reimbursing adoption expenses. Reserve Marines on active duty orders for 180 or more consecutive days are eligible, with reimbursement up to $2,000 per child or $5,000 per calendar year.

FY27 Active Reserve Alignment Plan is open for submissions
The FY27 Active Reserve Alignment Plan (ARAP) is now open. If you are an AR Marine with an EAS between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2027, you need to submit a retention request in TFRS by 31 January 2027 or you will be processed for separation.
