Beard Medical Accommodations Now Have Mandatory Tracking Codes
If your unit has Marines with approved or pending medical accommodations from shaving standards, your command is now required to track them using new codes in MCTIMS or UD/MIPS. This is a CO-level admin action, but SNCOs and NCOICs need to understand the system.

MCU and NPS Are Running an AI Hackathon This September
Marine Corps University and the Naval Postgraduate School are hosting a four-day AI and machine learning hackathon at MCU and NPS from 15 to 18 September 2026. Applications are open to Marines, government civilians, sister-service members, industry, and academic partners, with a deadline of 14 August 2026.

"PAC" is gone. The Marine Corps EO program is now called MEO.
The Marine Corps has renamed its equal opportunity program from "Prohibited Activities and Conduct (PAC)" to "Military Equal Opportunity" (MEO), effective immediately. The change is administrative only. No policies, prohibited behaviors, or reporting procedures changed.

USNA Class of 2031 Applications Open for Active and Reserve Marines
The Marine Corps is accepting enlisted applications for the Naval Academy Class of 2031. Both active and reserve Marines who meet the eligibility requirements can apply, with a deadline of 31 December 2026.

Special Leave Accrual for Ship, Mobile Unit, and Operational Duty Is Suspended
The Marine Corps has suspended Special Leave Accrual (SLA) for most categories outside of hostile fire and imminent danger zones, effective immediately. This applies to the total force, including reservists, and pending SLA requests under the affected categories will be returned without action.

FY26 W.P.T. Hill Food Service Awards: Nomination Window Open
The Marine Corps has announced the FY26 MajGen W.P.T. Hill Memorial Awards for food service excellence, including a Reserve component field mess category and a Food Service Specialist of the Year program. RC nominations are due 1 December 2026.

FY27 Enlisted Marine NROTC Scholarship Applications Are Open
Marine Corps Recruiting Command is accepting applications from active duty and reserve enlisted Marines for the FY27 Enlisted Marine Option Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (E-O NROTC) scholarship. Selected Marines attend a four-year NROTC-affiliated university and commission as second lieutenants upon graduation and completion of OCS.

Marine Corps Fall Cyber CTF Competition Open to Reserve Teams
The Marine Corps is running a Capture the Flag cyber competition from 29 September through 6 November 2026. Reserve cyberspace operators are eligible to compete, and the winning Reserve team gets sponsored to the SANS Service Cup.

4th Annual Commandant's Cup Wargaming Tournament Open to Reservists
MCU is running a four-round virtual wargaming tournament this fall and winter, with finals at Modern Day Marine in April 2027. Reserve Marines can register and compete individually, and MCU will fund travel for invited USMC teams, including reservists on ADOS orders.
