FY28 CBRND Warrant Officer Program Is Open to Any MOS

MARADMIN 509/26·October 20, 2026·2 min read·Official source

The Marine Corps just published its FY28 recruiting push for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (CBRND) Warrant Officers. Any enlisted Marine, from any MOS, can apply. No prior CBRN experience is required. If you've been considering the warrant officer path and have technical aptitude or strong operational background, this is worth a look.

Bottom line: Marines from any MOS can apply for the FY28 CBRND WO program, and Reserve Marines have a dedicated POC to help them through the process before the formal board deadline.

Who it affects

All enlisted Marines, both active and reserve, who meet the grade, service, and eligibility requirements for the FY28 Enlisted to WO Regular or Reserve Selection Boards. You do not need a CBRN background. The CBRND community actively wants applicants from combat arms, aviation, logistics, communications, intel, and other fields.

What you need to do

  1. Check your eligibility against the applicable FY28 Enlisted to WO Regular or Reserve Selection Board MARADMIN and the references below (NAVMC 1200.1M and MCO 1040.42B w/CH 1).
  2. Make sure your official military records reflect all relevant training, qualifications, education, certifications, and leadership assignments before you submit.
  3. Send a draft application package to your regional CBRND POC for preliminary review before formal submission. This is strongly encouraged and helps catch problems early. It does not count as a formal submission or guarantee anything.
  4. Prepare and submit your full WO application package, with all required endorsements and documentation, per the applicable board MARADMIN's procedures and deadlines.
