MARADMIN 507/26·October 20, 2026·2 min read·Official source

The Marine Corps just released the FY27 non-SDA meritorious promotion allocations for SSgt and GySgt. This is the annual process where commands convene local selection boards, nominate their best Marines, and submit those nominations to MMPB-11 for CMC approval. It applies to both active component and active reserve component Marines.

Heads up: If you're a SSgt or GySgt candidate in the MARFORRES enterprise, your command has 3 slots for SSgt and 2 for GySgt, and nominations are due 1 March 2027.

Who it affects

Active component and active reserve component Marines being considered for meritorious promotion to SSgt or GySgt. If you're already selected by a regular promotion board but your seniority number hasn't been reached, you're still eligible. You must have at least 24 months of obligated service remaining from the date of promotion.

On the reserve side, MARFORRES (including MARFORSOUTH, I-I staffs, and ADCON units) received 3 SSgt and 2 GySgt allocations.

What you need to do

If you're a commander or SNCO in the chain: identify your nominees, gather the required package elements, get the commanding officer's endorsement, and submit via naval correspondence to MMPB-11.

Each nomination package must include:
