Reserve officer bonuses and incentives suspended pending review

HQMC suspended several reserve officer incentive programs on 23 April 2026. The Officer Appointment Incentive (OAI), the Reserve Officer Retention Bonus (RORB), the FAC/Air Officer retention bonus, and the Warrant Officer Accession Bonus are all on hold. A specific provision of the FY27 Enlisted-to-Warrant Officer Reserve Selection Board message is also suspended. No timeline for reinstatement has been given.

Heads up: If you were counting on one of these bonuses, nothing is being processed right now. Contact your S-1 or RAP before taking any action.

Who it affects

SMCR officers and officer candidates who were expecting to apply for, enroll in, or receive payments from any of these programs:

  • Officer Appointment Incentive (OAI)
  • Reserve Officer Retention Bonus (RORB)
  • FAC/Air Officer Retention Bonus
  • Warrant Officer Accession Bonus (including the FY27 enlisted-to-WO board provision)

If you are an enlisted Marine eyeing the FY27 WO board, check with your S-1. One paragraph of that board message is also caught in the suspension.

What you need to do

If you were mid-application or expecting a payment, contact your unit S-1 and reach out to Reserve Affairs Policy, Plans, and Programming (RAP) directly. Do not sign or submit anything tied to these programs until the programs are officially reinstated. If you are not currently enrolled in or applying for any of these bonuses, no immediate action is needed.
