The Marine Corps wants Corporals and Sergeants from any MOS to apply for a lateral move into PMOS 2336, EOD Technician, for FY27. EOD is a high-demand, low-density MOS, and the Corps is actively recruiting ahead of increased maritime and littoral operations. This is an active component solicitation. Reserve Marines (SELRES, IMA) should reference MARADMIN 400/25 for the RC lateral move process.
Heads up: This MARADMIN is for active component Marines. If you're in the reserves and interested in EOD, contact MSgt Lawson (POC 2 below) for a waiver or check MARADMIN 400/25.
Who it affects
Active component Corporals and Sergeants in any MOS with an end of current contract (ECC) between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2027. Marines outside that window can request a waiver. Reserve Marines are directed to MARADMIN 400/25.
What you need to do
- Confirm you meet all eligibility criteria (see Key Points on the brief card and the list below).
- Contact MSgt Lawson (POC 2) and your Career Counselor to verify prerequisites.
- Coordinate with the nearest Marine EOD unit to schedule a screening.
- After a favorable screening, your Career Counselor submits your package through TFRS to Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments.
Eligibility requirements:
- Corporal or Sergeant, any MOS, volunteer only
- GT score of 110 or higher
- U.S. citizen only (no dual citizenship)
- Eligible for a Top Secret clearance via completed Tier 5 investigation (must be submitted before EOD school)
- First class PFT and CFT (tested during screening)
- Normal color vision, no claustrophobia (bomb suit agility test administered at screening)
- Meet medical requirements in NAVMED P-117, article 15-107 (explosive handler/driver standards)
- Sufficient obligated service to complete a full 36 months after EOD school graduation (school is roughly 9 months)
A few things worth knowing on the bonus and promotion:
- The SRB is not paid at reenlistment. It pays out after you graduate EOD school and receive PMOS 2336.
- Corporals who lateral move into EOD receive a non-competitive promotion to Sergeant once minimum time-in-grade and time-in-service requirements are met.
Key dates
- ECC window: 1 October 2026 through 30 September 2027 (FY27 cohort)
- Outside that window: Contact MSgt Lawson for a waiver
- Applications can be submitted immediately after a favorable EOD screening. You do not have to wait for your current MOS boat spaces to close.
