The Marine Corps released the FY27 Selective Retention Bonus (SRB) program on 22 January 2026. It covers reenlistment bonuses for active component enlisted Marines whose contracts expire between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2027. Eligibility begins on the date this MARADMIN dropped. Reserve Marines with active component time in that window, or those who counsel Marines straddling the reserve/active line, need to know this.

Heads up: The Broken Service SRB (BSSRB) is suspended for FY27. Prior service Marines returning to the active component with less than a 4-year break will not receive that bonus.

Who it affects

This MARADMIN is primarily for active component enlisted Marines (first-term and career) with an Expiration of Current Contract (ECC) between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2027. It is not a reserve-component bonus program. However, it is relevant to:

  • Reserve SNCOs and career planners who counsel active duty Marines or dual-component Marines
  • IRR and SMCR Marines considering a return to active service
  • Anyone with a pending reenlistment who straddles active and reserve status

What you need to do

If you are an active component Marine with an ECC in the FY27 window, review your zone and PMOS against the tables below, then talk to your career planner or S-1.

If you are a reserve leader, be ready to brief the highlights to any Marines you know who are in this window, and point them to their active component career planner.

Seven kicker programs are available in FY27. All amounts are in addition to any PMOS bonus the Marine earns:

KickerAmountRank Eligibility
Aircraft Maintenance Kicker$5,000 to $15,000E7 and below
Aircraft Readiness Kicker$8,000 to $24,000E7 and below
84-Month Lateral Move (LM) Kicker$50,000E5 and below
72-Month Mid-Career LM Kicker$35,000E7 and below
24-Month FMF Infantry Kicker$7,000E5 and below
36-Month FMF Infantry Kicker$30,000E5 and below
Air Traffic Control Kicker$40,000E5 and below

Key conditions by kicker:

Aircraft Maintenance Kicker (up to $15,000): GySgt and below in Zones A, B, C with a 6062, 6092, 61xx, 62xx, 63xx, or 6531 PMOS. Amount scales with how many necessary MOSs (NMOSs) the Marine holds (1 NMOS: $5,000 / 2 NMOS: $10,000 / 3+ NMOS: $15,000). Requires 60 months additional obligated service.

Aircraft Readiness Kicker (up to $24,000): Same PMOS groups, same NMOS scaling (1: $8,000 / 2: $16,000 / 3+: $24,000), but also requires assignment to specific Monitored Command Codes (MCCs) and agreement to stay in those MCCs for the first 24 months of the new contract. Requires 60 months additional obligated service.

84-Month LM Kicker ($50,000): Zone A Marines doing a lateral move into select PMOSs (0211, 0321, 0372, 1721, 1751, 2336, 3044, 5821, 5974, 5979, 6214, 6314, 7212, 7257) and reenlisting for 84 months. Paid in addition to any PMOS bonus.

72-Month Mid-Career LM Kicker ($35,000): Zone B Marines doing a lateral move into 0211, 0372, 1751, 2336, or 5821 and reenlisting for 72 months. Paid in addition to any PMOS bonus.

24-Month FMF Infantry Kicker ($7,000): First-term sergeants and below in 0311, 0313, 0321, 0331, 0341, or 0352, assigned to specific FMF MCCs, reenlisting for 60 months. Marines who take this kicker are locked out of SDA assignments convening in the first 24 months of the contract. They can still be screened and assigned to classes that convene after month 24.

36-Month FMF Infantry Kicker ($30,000): Same infantry MOSs, smaller set of MCCs, same 60-month reenlistment requirement, but the SDA lockout extends to 36 months. This is the higher-dollar, longer-commitment version of the FMF infantry kicker.

Air Traffic Control Kicker ($40,000): Zone A sergeants and below with 7257 PMOS who hold at least one of three specific NMOSs (7252, 7253, 7254) and reenlist for 60 months.

PMOS bonuses are separate from kickers and depend on zone (A, B, or C) and PMOS. The MARADMIN text provided was cut off before the full PMOS bonus tables were included. Check the full MARADMIN for your zone's rates, or contact your career planner.
