The Marine Corps Reserve Administrative Management Manual (MCRAMM, MCO 1001R.1L) is the rulebook for your reserve career. How points work, what makes a good year, going on orders, promotions, mobilization, benefits. It is also about 260 pages of policy language written for the full-time force, and almost nobody reads it until they have a problem.
What this is: the whole MCRAMM, all 12 chapters, translated into plain English. Not a MARADMIN. A reference you can keep.
We translated all of it. Every chapter, every section, plus the acronym glossary. Each section opens with a "Bottom line," tells you what it means for you, then gives you the detail in tables and clear steps instead of a wall of citations. The official manual is always one click away.
We did not abridge it
Plain English does not mean we cut things. This is a translation, not a summary. Every rule in the manual is still here. Every number, date, point threshold, deadline, dollar amount, and form number was checked against the official PDF and carried over exactly, because those specifics are the whole reason you came. If even one digit drifted, the page would be worse than useless.
To keep it honest:
- Everything traces back. Each section shows exactly where it came from: chapter, section, paragraph, and page, with a link to the official document so you can verify anything before you act on it.
- We flag, we do not guess. Where the source was genuinely unreadable or ambiguous, we say so and point you to the official page rather than inventing an answer. A few dense figure tables are linked to the PDF for that reason, with cleaner versions coming.
- It is the current manual. The published MCRAMM has been updated over the years (the "Ch 1" and "Ch 2" administrative changes). Those edits show up in the official PDF as struck-out old text and inserted new text. We rendered the manual as it stands today, neutrally: the current retirement rules covering both the Legacy and Blended Retirement Systems, the paragraphs the changes removed, and the wording they updated. We do not editorialize on any of it, and we do not bring back content the changes deleted.
Why we built it
You are a reservist. You have a civilian job, a family, and a few dozen hours a month where you are a Marine. The information that governs your career exists, but the access does not. Somewhere in those hours you are supposed to catch the rule that changes your retirement math or opens a benefit you qualify for. Nobody translated it into something you can read between a soccer game and a Monday standup.
That is the gap we work on. The MARADMIN feed handles what just changed. This handles the standing rules underneath it. We expect this is the first of more reference and explainer content for reserve Marines, not just MARADMIN summaries.
