Enlisted promotions run on cutting scores and SNCO boards, and SNCOs who twice fail selection move to the IRR. You are personally responsible for making sure your record is accurate and your board update material is in on time.
What it means for you
If you are up for a board, the work is on you. Verify your eligibility, make sure your OMPF and Master Brief Sheet are correct, get your PME done, and submit any update material before the deadline. Officers: watch the One Year Rule and the 90-Day Rule, and know that moving to the Standby Reserve Inactive Status List (ISL) takes you out of the running. Enlisted: cutting scores for sergeant and corporal come out quarterly, and SNCO board details come out in annual MARADMINs. If you twice fail selection as a SELRES SNCO, you will be transferred to the IRR.
