FY27 Parachute and HRST Safety Inspection Schedule

MARADMIN 513/26·October 21, 2026·4 min read·Official source

The Marine Corps has released the FY27 schedule for parachute and HRST safety inspections. These are mandatory, conducted at least once every two years by the Naval Safety Command's Parachute Safety Analyst, and cost the unit nothing. If your unit holds a parachute or HRST capability, check whether you're on the schedule and start preparing now.

Heads up: Cancellations require regimental-level initiation and a general officer endorsement, and your unit may have to fund the rescheduled visit.

Who it affects

Any Marine Corps unit that maintains a parachute or HRST capability. This is a narrow population: Recon battalions, ANGLICO units, Mountain Warfare Training Center elements, EOTGs, select LSBs and DSBs, and a few other specialized commands. If your unit isn't on the list below, this likely doesn't touch you.

What you need to do

If your unit is on the schedule:

  1. Check your inspection window in the tables below. Details will arrive via email roughly 90 days out, or sooner if you request them.
  2. Conduct a self-assessment using the official parachute and HRST safety inspection checklists before the inspector arrives. Provide results to the inspector on arrival.
  3. Have two packed, ready-for-issue parachute systems (main and reserve, for personnel systems) of each type in your inventory ready for inspection.
  4. If you have a scheduling conflict, contact MSgt Doody directly. Conflicts are handled case by case.
  5. To cancel a scheduled inspection, the request must come from regimental level and be endorsed by the first general officer in your chain. Send the cancellation to both contacts listed below.

If your unit wants a safety assist visit (not required, free, and recommended):

  • Submit a request by email to MSgt Doody and the HQMC Risk Management Directorate Safety Division. Contact info is in the "Official version" section.
