AI and data training resources now available to all Marines

MARADMIN 467/26·October 1, 2026·2 min read·Official source

The Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM) has put out a roundup of available AI and data management training resources for Marines and government civilians. This is an awareness bulletin, not a new requirement, with one exception: if you haven't completed the Basic AI Course yet, that one is mandatory and the deadline is end of this year.

★ Affects all reservists: The Basic AI Course (CDETBAIC01) on MCeLE is mandatory for all Marines, active and reserve, officer and enlisted, by 31 December 2026.

Who it affects

All Marines, SMCR, IMA, and IRR included. The mandatory course requirement (from MARADMIN 214/26) covers every active duty and reserve Marine regardless of MOS or rank. The additional resources listed here are available to anyone who wants to go deeper. Government civilians working in Marine Corps departments are also encouraged to use these resources.

What you need to do

If you haven't completed the Basic AI Course, do that first. Everything else on this list is voluntary but available.

This plan aligns Marine Corps resources around five AI goals, including building an AI-competent workforce. It is what authorizes and directs the training and education enterprise to identify and institutionalize the learning resources listed in this MARADMIN.

  • This MARADMIN mandates completion of the Basic AI Course (CDETBAIC01) for all Active Duty and Reserve Marines by 31 December 2026. Reservists need to read it to understand the requirement and deadline that applies to them.

  • Maven Smart System licensing announcement (MARADMIN 424/25)MARADMIN

This MARADMIN explains how to get access to the Maven Smart System (MSS), which is a prerequisite before a reservist can reach the Palantir training resources listed in this message.

  • This document appears to be a restricted page for GenAI.mil, a DoD platform for AI tools and training, but access is limited to users on DoD networks. Reservists working from home or personal devices will likely see only an access-denied message and should contact their command IT help desk if they believe they should have access.

  • This document links to Google Cloud Skills Boost, a training platform accessible through GenAI.mil where reservists can take courses and earn credentials in AI, machine learning, and Google Cloud tools. If you want structured, self-paced training on topics like generative AI, Gemini, or data workflows, this is where to start.

  • This site is where Marines and civilians can register for training on Power Platform, SharePoint, and Azure. These are tools commonly used across Marine Corps units for data and workflow management.

  • WDP provides self-paced and role-based training from beginner to advanced, plus a monthly virtual training series. Reservists looking to build data skills tied to DoD data platforms can start here.

  • This document is a sign-in portal for a Microsoft training program that gives Marines access to Azure and other Microsoft technology courses leading to certifications. If you are looking to build technical skills or earn a Microsoft certification through your organization, this is where you start.

  • This SIPR link leads to the USMC MSS Training Hub for Palantir, the platform Marines use within Maven Smart System. Reservists must obtain MSS access per MARADMIN 424/25 before they can reach this resource.

  • This document appears to be a login page for Waypoints, the Department of the Navy's civilian learning and talent management system, rather than a guide or resource. Reserve Marines in a civilian Marine Corps employee role may need access to this system to manage training and development requirements.

  • The USNCC is a federal institution that offers enlisted Marines the opportunity to earn associate degrees and professional certificates built around naval-relevant coursework, with military training and prior education counting toward the required credits.
