Nominations open for 2026 Marine Athlete of the Year

MARADMIN 458/26·October 1, 2026·1 min read·Official source

HQMC's Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience-Semper Fit (WARR-SF) Branch is taking applications for the 2026 Male and Female Athletes of the Year, plus an All-Marine Sports Team of the Year. If you or someone in your unit had a standout athletic year, this is the award for it. The deadline is 31 January 2027, so there's time, but the package takes some work to put together.

Heads up: Reserve Marines are only eligible while on active duty orders. SMCR and IMA Marines not currently on orders cannot apply.

Who it affects

Active-duty Marines and RC Marines currently serving on active duty orders. If you're drilling IDT or not on orders right now, this one doesn't apply to you.

What you need to do

The application covers individual athletes and teams. Here's what a package requires:

  1. Complete the application form at https://www.usmc-mccs.org/allmarinesports.
  2. Write a professional Marine biography and a sports biography.
  3. Pull your basic training record from Marine Online.
  4. Attach any supporting documents for athletic accomplishments during calendar year 2026.
  5. Get your commanding officer (O-5 or above) to endorse the package.
  6. Email the completed application to allmarinesports@usmc-mccs.org.

Eligible competitions include intramural, varsity, All-Marine, national, and international events governed by recognized amateur bodies (USA Track and Field, AAU, etc.).

Key dates

  • 31 January 2027: All submissions due to HQMC WARR-SF. No exceptions noted.
  • Winners will be announced via a follow-on MARADMIN.
