The Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) convened the FY27 Lieutenant Colonel RCSB on 17 August 2026 and convened the FY27 Colonel RCSB on 24 August 2026. The purpose of command screening is to ensure that Marines receive the best possible leadership and to provide all eligible officers with a fair and equitable opportunity to command. The screened command billets will normally become available during the period of 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. 2. Coordinating Instructions. All officers approved as primaries for command and post command billets will receive a selection letter from CMC (RA) notifying them of selection and directing them to accept, decline, or request deferral of assignment. The selection letter will be included in officer’s Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). Primaries must respond within 30 days to CMC (RA) as indicated in the selection letter. Officers failing to respond within 30 days of receipt of their letter will be considered to have declined the slated billet. CMC (RA) will notify Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, of all declinations or deferral requests for command or post command billets. 5.a. In accordance with reference (c), officers slated to command will schedule their attendance to the Commandant’s Combined Commandership Program (Cornerstone) before, or shortly after, assuming command. The program consists of two courses conducted concurrently: a two-week commanders’ course and a five-day workshop for spouses. These courses are conducted semiannually aboard MCB Quantico. Officers slated in paragraphs 2 and 3 must schedule attendance at Cornerstone. Officers slated in paragraph 4 are eligible but not required to attend Cornerstone. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Further information is available from MCU online at: http://www.usmcu.edu. Under “Academic Programs” select “Lejeune Leadership Institute”, then “Commandant’s Combined Commandership Course”. Officers slated for Ground Combat Element (GCE) commands are encouraged to attend the five-day GCE Commanders Course (GCECC) at the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) prior to, or within the first six months of assuming command. A separate MARADMIN will announce FY27 course dates. 5.a.2. Officers slated for Logistics commands across the Fleet Marine Force and Supporting Establishment are encouraged to attend the annual Logistics Commanders Course (LCC) conducted by the Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group (MCLOG). A separate MARADMIN will announce FY27 course dates. 5.a.3. Officers slated for Air Combat Element (ACE) commands are encouraged to attend the annual Commanders Conference/Re- Black at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS -1). A separate MARADMIN will announce FY27 course dates. 5.b. Officers slated to command will be removed from consideration for resident Full-Length Schools on the Academic Year 2027-2028 Reserve Officer Professional Military Education Board. 5.c. Upon assumption of a command or post command billet, individual units will notify CMC (RA) via email on standard naval letterhead with the officer’s name and date they assumed the billet. Notifications will be sent to RCSB@usmc.mil. 6. The list of alternates will not be published via MARADMIN. The alternate list can be found by accessing https://www.manpower.marines.mil/Divisions/Reserve-Affairs- Division/Reserve-Affairs-Management-RAM/Reserve-Affairs- Management-Embeds/. Once at the Reserve Affairs Manpower Management (RAM) website, scroll down to “Reserve Programs and Boards (RAM-3)”. Select “Reserve Command Screening Program” then select “Alternate List” on the FY27 RCSB card. 6.a. Alternates will receive a letter from CMC (RA) notifying them of their alternate status. This letter will be included in their Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). 6.b. Alternate selectees will retain their status for up to 24 months from the publishing of this MARADMIN. 7.
