Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) has announced its FY27 Commander's Course and Reblack, running 2-5 February 2027 at MCAS Yuma, Arizona. The course is aimed at aviation commanders and key community leaders, covering current weapons, tactics, and operational issues through lectures, discussions, and breakout groups. Attendance is unit-funded, and registration closes less than two weeks before the event, so units need to move early.
Bottom line: Register no later than 26 January 2027 through the MAWTS-1 SharePoint site. Your unit funds the trip. There is no CID for this course.
Who it affects
This is a narrow audience. You need to fall into one of these categories:
Commander's Course (2-3 Feb):
- Current or slated commanders for aviation commands
- Former O-5 and O-6 commanders from the aviation community
Reblack (4-5 Feb):
- All Commander's Course attendees
- All WTI course graduates
If you are a WTI or a Flight Leadership Standardization and Evaluation (FLSE) program coordinator, you are eligible and the content is directly relevant to your role.
What you need to do
- Confirm you meet the eligibility criteria above.
- Coordinate with your unit to verify funding. There is no CID. Travel and attendance come out of your unit's budget.
- If you need TS/SCI access (Commander's Course), submit your clearance via DISS visit request to SMO code
012431A53. For Reblack (Secret minimum), use SMO codeM00328. - If you have a medical personal electronic device (hearing aid, insulin pump, pacemaker, or anything with wireless/Bluetooth/cellular capability), pre-coordinate with the MAWTS-1 SSO team before arrival:

Uniform: Woodland MARPAT utilities or green flight suit.
No personal electronic devices are allowed in MAWTS-1 buildings 406 or 510. This includes fitness trackers, Oura rings, Garmin devices, and smart watches, even ones approved at other secure facilities.
