FY27 Acquisition Officer (MOS 8059/8061) Lateral Move Solicitation

This MARADMIN formally opens applications for the FY27 Acquisition Primary MOS Selection Panel (ACQSP), which selects active component officers to lateral move into MOS 8059 (ground acquisition) or 8061 (aviation acquisition). The panel convenes around 3 November 2026 at MCB Quantico. Paragraph 7 states explicitly that this MARADMIN does not apply to the Marine Corps Reserve.

Heads up: This solicitation is AC-only. If you are SMCR, IMA, or IRR, this does not apply to you.

Who it affects

No one in the Reserve Component. The final paragraph of this MARADMIN explicitly excludes the Marine Corps Reserve. SMCR, IMA, and IRR Marines have no action here.

If you are an AC major select through lieutenant colonel who wants to move into an acquisition officer role, this is your cycle. Aviation MOS background (60XX, 66XX, 72XX, 73XX, or 75XX) is weighted heavily for the 8059 PMOS.

What you need to do

Reservists: Nothing. This does not apply to you.

AC officers who want to apply: Applications are due to MMOA-3 by 2 October 2026. Full application instructions, including the required NAVMC 10274 AA form template, are on the MMOA-3 Plans and Programs page. Direct process questions to the MMOA-3 POCs listed in the MARADMIN.
