The Marine Corps just updated the uniform regs to allow class rings to be paired with wedding rings. Previously, the one-ring-per-hand rule left no room for a class ring if you were already wearing a wedding set. That changes now, effective immediately.
Bottom line: You can now wear a college or commissioning-source class ring alongside your wedding ring without violating the one-ring-per-hand rule.
Who it affects
Every Marine in uniform who wears or wants to wear a class ring. Component doesn't matter. If you've been leaving your ring in the car, you don't have to anymore.
What you need to do
Nothing formal. Just know the policy changed. The updated rule is:
- One ring per hand, with two exceptions: a wedding ring worn with an engagement ring, OR a wedding ring worn with a college or commissioning-source class ring
- If the class ring and wedding ring are on the same finger, they count as one ring
- Rings stay at the base of the finger, close to the palm
- No rings on thumbs
