The Judge Advocate Division has published the FY27 schedule for the Senior Leader Legal Course (SLLC), a three-day course run through Naval Justice School (NJS). It covers the legal terrain commanders and senior leaders actually run into: investigations, NJP, admin seps, military justice, sexual harassment, government ethics, and more, including a block on reserve personnel law. It's not mandatory, but it's built for the people running units.

Heads up: Register at least six weeks before your chosen course date. Requests inside that window won't be processed.

Who it affects

XOs, senior enlisted leaders and advisors below the rank of Sergeant Major, and commanders who are not O-5/O-6 board-selects attending Cornerstone. Board-selected O-5 and O-6 commanders get their legal instruction at Cornerstone, so they aren't the target audience here, though the MARADMIN says they may still attend.

What you need to do

  1. Pick a course date from the schedule below.
  2. Register through the NJS sharepoint site: https://usmc.sharepoint-mil.us/sites/SJA_JET/SitePages/SLLC.aspx
  3. Submit your request no later than six weeks before the course convenes. Requests inside that window will not be processed.
  4. Coordinate travel, lodging, and per diem through your command. Virtual courses are free to attend.
  5. If you need to cancel, do it via email to JPI_Courses@usmc.mil more than five business days out, or your command may receive a no-show report.

For registration site problems, contact: JPI_Courses@usmc.mil

If your unit wants a Mobile Training Team (MTT) visit instead, your unit funds it and provides the venue. Schedule through the NJS MTT site: https://www.jag.navy.mil/about/organization/ojag/njs/mtt/
