The Marine Corps has published the convening order for the FY27 Master Gunnery Sergeant and Master Sergeant Promotion Selection Board (PSB). The board meets 27 October 2026 at Marine Corps Base Quantico and will run for approximately five weeks. Per paragraph 13, this MARADMIN is explicitly not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
Heads up: This board does not apply to reservists. Reserve GySgts and MSgts should watch for a separate RC promotion board announcement.
Who it affects
Active component GySgts and MSgts eligible for promotion to MSgt and MGySgt, respectively. Reserve Marines are explicitly excluded from this board.
If you are an IMA or SMCR SNCO wondering about your own promotion board, this is not it. Check with your unit S-1 or monitor the Enlisted Promotions page for a Reserve-specific board announcement.
