FY27 MGySgt and MSgt Promotion Board Convenes October 2026

MARADMIN 389/26·August 25, 2026·3 min read·Official source

The Marine Corps has published the convening order for the FY27 MGySgt and MSgt Promotion Selection Board (PSB). The board sits at Marine Corps Base Quantico starting 27 October 2026 and runs for about five weeks. If you're a GySgt or MSgt in an eligible MOS, your record competes as-is. Make sure it reflects you accurately before the board sits.

Heads up: All correspondence to the board president must arrive by 2359 EDT on 16 October 2026, eleven days before the board convenes.

Who it affects

  • MSgts being considered for MGySgt
  • GySgts being considered for MSgt

Eligibility is MOS-specific. See the feeder/IMOS tables in paragraphs 10a and 10b of the MARADMIN for the full list. Your PMOS in column A determines which IMOS in column B you compete for.

Two groups are explicitly excluded:

  • MSgts selected on the FY27 E8 Redesignation Board (Pilot) will not compete for MGySgt on this board.
  • GySgts selected on the FY27 First Sergeant Selection Board will not compete for MSgt on this board.

Zone eligibility (Above Zone, In Zone, Below Zone) is determined by your Date of Rank (DOR) and, where specified, your Armed Forces Active Duty Base Date (AFADBD). The full cutoff table is in paragraph 11 of the MARADMIN. Note: the published text cuts off mid-table. Verify your zone eligibility through your S-1 or the Enlisted Promotions website.

What you need to do

  1. Confirm your PMOS appears in the feeder tables (paragraphs 10a or 10b) and identify your IMOS.
  2. Check your Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) record and Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) for accuracy. Update anything that needs fixing now, before the board.
  3. Verify your PME status meets the requirements for your promotion path (see PME section below).
  4. If you want to submit correspondence to the board president, get it in before 2359 EDT, 16 October 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  5. For SDA (Special Duty Assignment) Marines: PME waivers may apply to non-EPME requirements. Check the Enlisted Promotions website for your specific situation.

PME requirements by promotion path:

GySgt to MSgtMCeLE course EPME7000BA AND one of: SNCO Leadership School, SNCO Leadership School Seminar, Resident Advanced School, Advanced School Seminar, Resident Career Course, Career Course Seminar, Reserve Advanced Course, or Reserve Career Course
