AY2027 Enlisted PME Weekend Seminars Now Open for Registration

The College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) has announced the AY2027 schedule for its two enlisted PME weekend seminar programs: the Sergeants School Seminar Program (SSSP) for sergeants, and the SNCO Leadership School Seminar Program (SLSSP) for staff sergeants and gunnery sergeants. Completion of either seminar counts as equivalent to the resident school at an SNCO Academy for promotion and assignment purposes. Both programs are open to the Total Force.

★ Affects all reservists: Completion of a CDET weekend seminar is treated the same as the resident school for promotion, so this is a real path to knocking out required PME without going TDU for weeks.

Who it affects

All SMCR, IMA, and IRR Marines who need Sergeants School (sergeants) or SNCO Leadership School (staff sergeants and gunnery sergeants) for promotion or assignment. Active duty and Active Reserve Marines may also attend. Sister service members can apply for a limited number of seats per region.

What you need to do

Before applying, confirm you meet all prerequisites:

  1. Meet Marine Corps Body Composition Program standards.
  2. Complete the required MarineNet DEP course: EPME5000BA (Sergeants Course DEP) for SSSP, or EPME6000BA (Career Course DEP) for SLSSP.
  3. Get your commanding officer's endorsement.
  4. Submit your completed CDET Command Screening Checklist to the Enlisted Reserve Liaison Office (E-RLO) at mcu_cdet_rlo@usmcu.edu to apply for a funded seat.

Funding notes by status:

  • SMCR and IMA (drilling status): MARFORRES G-3/5 funds your seat. You'll use MROWS and your DTS-R account.
  • IRR: Contact Marine Corps Individual Reserve Support Activity (MCIRSA) directly to coordinate orders and travel. DTS-R does not apply to IRR Marines.
  • On ADOS during the seminar: MARFORRES will not provide additional funding for weekend sessions. Talk to whoever is funding your ADOS orders and see if they'll cover lodging and travel for the weekend sessions.
  • Active duty / Active Reserve: You may attend, but MARFORRES provides no PME or travel funding. Your unit funds your travel and lodging.

Tech and reading requirements:

  • You need a personal computer with audio, video, and internet access. If you don't have one, ask your unit to loan you a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop with a word processor.
  • SSSP (sergeants): Obtain and read "You Are Worth It: Building a Life Worth Fighting For." Buy it or get it through your base or local library.
  • SLSSP (SSgt/GySgt): Obtain and read "Black Hearts: One Platoon's Descent Into Madness in Iraq's Triangle of Death." Same deal, buy it or find it at the library.

The Fall cycle registration deadline has already passed as of this MARADMIN's release date. If you missed it, target the Spring cycle. Off-cycle classes can also form if a region hits at least eight enrolled students.
