Spring 2026 Marine Corps Cyber Capture the Flag Competition Winners
Names the winning and runner-up teams from the May 2026 Service-wide Cyber CTF competition, open to both active and reserve cyberspace operators. First place went to Team "Aegis Sentinel" from 2nd Network Bn; second place went to CPT-651's "Badger Reign."

The Deputy Commandant for Information (DC I) takes pleasure in announcing the winners of the Spring 2026 Cyber Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. DC I, in partnership with the National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) under the DOD Test Resource Management Center (TRMC), conducted a remote CTF event with secure access provided through the Joint Information Operations Range (JIOR). 2. Background. From 11 to 28 May 2026, DC I hosted a remote, Service-wide Capture the Flag competition. Participation in this event was open to Servicemembers and DoD Civilians from across the Cyber Mission Force and Fleet Marine Force, including Reserve components. The CTF competition provided a venue where Marine cyberspace operators could compete in a tailored scenario to complete cyber challenges of varying difficulty to capture objectives, referred to as cyber flags. The teams were given 16 hours over a two-day period to obtain as many cyber flags as possible. 2.a. Command Representation. Ten Marine teams participated in the CTF competition from the following units: 9th Comm Bn (two teams), 1st Radio Bn, 2nd Network Bn, 1st Network Bn, Cyber Protection Team (CPT) 651 (two teams), CPT-700, and Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Battalion. 2.b. Winning Team. Team "Aegis Sentinel," representing 2nd Network Bn, secured first place overall at the competition. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, "Aegis Sentinel" outperformed a field of highly competitive teams, including CPT-651's "Badger Reign," who earned a well-deserved second place overall. The winning team "Aegis Sentinel" comprised the following Marines: Sergeant Kevin Pearson (Team Lead) Gunnery Sergeant Lougene Almojuela Corporal Summer Copeland Corporal Griffen Radford Lance Corporal Jack Colligan Lance Corporal Brando Fletter Lance Corporal Khiriz Huayta Lance Corporal Peyton Wrathell. 3. The 2026 Fall Marine Corps Cyber Games announcement will be released in the upcoming months via MARADMIN. The winner of this Fall CTF will be awarded the opportunity to represent the Marine Corps in the System Administrator, Audit, Network and Security (SANS) Service Cup. Sponsorship is dependent on funding availability and approval. The intended participants for this event are cyberspace operators from the DCO-IDM Companies and the Cyber Mission Force. 4.
