The Marine Corps released the July 2026 promotion numbers for Reserve SNCOs across AR, SMCR, and IRR components. Promotions are effective no earlier than 1 July 2026. The MARADMIN also projects how many will promote in August and September, giving selected Marines a rough timeline for when their number comes up.

Bottom line: If you're on an FY25 or FY26 SNCO selection list, compare your seniority number to the tables below to see where you stand for July, August, or September.

Who it affects

Selected SNCOs (SSgt through SgtMaj/MGySgt) on FY25 SMCR and IRR promotion lists, and FY26 AR promotion lists. This MARADMIN applies to the Marine Corps Reserve only, including SMCR, IRR, and AR components.

What you need to do

If you're a commander: effect promotions on or after 1 July 2026, citing MARADMIN 285/26 as authority. Do not promote before that date.

If you're a selectee: check your seniority number against the tables. Two things can delay your promotion:

  1. You must have an Expiration of Active Service or Reserve Expiration of Current Contract dated 30 June 2028 or later. If you don't, you're not authorized to promote.
  2. If you haven't met Obligated Service (OBS) requirements by the time your seniority number is reached, your date of rank shifts to the 1st of the month after you complete OBS.

For details on OBS, sequenced PME requirements, commander requirements, and promotion backdate requests, the Enlisted Promotions site is at manpower.marines.mil (navigate: Divisions > Manpower Management > Performance Branch > Promotion Section > Enlisted Promotions > SNCOs).
