HQMC is soliciting volunteers for FY27 AMOI, second-tour DI, and USNA Senior Enlisted Leader (MOS 8014) billets. Vacancies span NROTC units across the country, both recruit depots, OCS, and the US Naval Academy. Applications are accepted year-round, with a hard cutoff of 1 October 2026.
Heads up: This MARADMIN explicitly does not apply to the Marine Corps Reserve. If you are SMCR, IMA, or IRR, this one is not for you.
Who it affects
Active-duty Marines only. Paragraph 12 states plainly: this message is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve. The content below is provided for awareness, in case you have active-duty contacts or are considering a transfer.
For second-tour DI and AMOI billets, eligible Marines are:
- Active-duty SSgt through MSgt
- Hold AMOS 0911 (completed a prior DI tour)
- Meet PFT minimums: 250 for OCS billets, 215 for recruit depots and NROTC units
- Have 36 months Time on Station (TOS) at estimated departure date
- Have 36 months in primary MOS since last SDA tour
For USNA Senior Enlisted Leader (8014) billets, eligible Marines are:
- Active-duty SSgt or GySgt
- Have completed a prior SDA or screenable billet (not limited to 0911 for 8014; Drill Master billets still require 0911)
- Hold a minimum GT score of 100
- Hold a current first-class PFT score
All applicants must meet waist-to-height standards and submit tattoo photos per TFRS Message A66568.
What you need to do
If you are a reservist, nothing. This does not apply to you.
If you are active duty and interested, applications go through TFRS as an SDA request, routed to CMC (MMEA-25) via the normal RELM chain. Your package must include:
- Administrative Action Form listing desired billets in order of preference, DI tour dates, and any other relevant information.
- Completed Drill Instructor Duty Checklist (NAVMC 11705) for DI/AMOI billets, or Independent Duty Checklist (NAVMC 11710) for USNA billets.
- GySgts must annotate their promotion preference (M or F).

Key dates
- 1 October 2026: Application deadline for all billets
- 31 March 2027: Report-no-later-than for Marines selected for AMOI/NROTC billets (expect augment to OCS summer training April through August 2027)
- 31 May 2027: Report-no-later-than for Marines selected for USNA billets
