This MARADMIN announces the FY27 Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) company grade officer selection panel, which convenes in July 2026. It is looking for officers to fill RS XO, OpsO, and Officer Selection Officer (OSO) billets across six recruiting districts starting in FY27. The panel is run jointly by MMOA and MCRC.

Heads up: This MARADMIN states explicitly that it does not apply to the Reserve Component. If you received this as a reservist, it is not for you unless you are an active component officer.

Who it affects

This one is straightforward: the MARADMIN says in paragraph 8 that it is not applicable to the RC. It is written for active component company grade officers (Lieutenants in zone or selected for Captain, and Captains) whose career timing supports a full 36-month tour completing no later than 30 September 2027.

Specific eligibility gates:

  • Current orders must complete NLT 30 September 2027 (Tour Control Factor requirement)
  • Officers must be in zone for promotion to Captain, selected for Captain, or already a Captain
  • Captains forecasted to pin Major during the tour are ineligible
  • Captains with a Date of Rank of 1 November 2025 or earlier will not screen (insufficient career time remaining for a 36-month tour)
  • Officers not yet career designated but screening for it in FY27 will be considered

What you need to do

If you are a reservist: nothing. This does not apply to you.

If you are an active component officer reading this and you are eligible: volunteering gets you priority slating for preferred billet vacancies. Submit your volunteer preference via the survey and send at least one letter of recommendation to your PMOS monitor. All correspondence must be submitted to your PMOS monitor by the deadline below.

  • Active Component Officer Retention and Prior Service Accessions (MCO 1001.65A)Reference

This order governs career designation rules for officers. The MARADMIN cites it to explain how officers selected on the MCRC panel may be offered career designation in conjunction with accepting orders.

  • Separation and Retirement Manual (MCO 1900.16 w/Ch 2)Reference

This manual covers the rules around officer resignations and retirements. The MARADMIN cites it as the final authority governing requests to resign or retire before completing the 36-month tour control factor.

  • Change to PME Requirements for Recruiting Station Officers (MARADMIN 371/03)MARADMIN

This older MARADMIN establishes the assignment incentive program for officers who successfully complete an MCRC tour. The FY27 panel announcement cites it to explain post-tour assignment options for RS XOs, RS OpsOs, and OSOs.

  • This page covers the Marine Corps officer boards and programs that select active duty officers for resident education opportunities like professional military education, graduate education, and fellowships. Reserve officers considering a return to active duty or seeking to understand how the active component manages officer education and assignment programs may find the eligibility criteria and board overviews useful.

  • This document is a Microsoft Forms questionnaire for Marines interested in volunteering for the FY27 MCRC selection panel. The form is not currently accepting responses, but checking back may be relevant if you are considering a role in evaluating candidates for that panel.
