CMC released the June 2026 SNCO promotion numbers for AR, SMCR, and IRR Marines, along with projections for July and August. Commanders are authorized to effect promotions on or after 1 June 2026. If your seniority number falls within the ranges listed, you should be getting promoted this month or can see roughly when your number will come up.
Bottom line: Promotions are authorized no earlier than 1 June 2026. Check your seniority number against the tables, confirm your contract runs through 31 May 2028 or later, and make sure your OBS is met before your number is reached.
Who it affects
SMCR and IRR SNCOs (SSgt through SgtMaj/MGySgt) on the FY25 selection lists, and AR SNCOs on the FY26 selection list. Also affects commanders who are responsible for executing these promotions.
What you need to do
If you are on a selection list:
- Confirm your Expiration of Active Service or Reserve Expiration of Current Contract is dated 31 May 2028 or later. If it is not, you cannot be promoted until that is resolved.
- Confirm you have met your Obligated Service (OBS) requirements. If you come into compliance after your seniority number is reached, your date of rank and effective date shift to the 1st of the following month.
- Confirm you have completed your sequenced PME and any other Commander requirements for promotion.
