HQMC released the official promotion list for May 2026 and the projected list for June 2026. Commanding officers are now authorized to effect promotions for everyone named in this message. Rank, pay, and allowances are effective 1 May 2026. The physical commission certificate is not the legal authority to promote and is not required to hold the ceremony.

Bottom line: If your name appears in MARADMIN 195/26, your CO can promote you now. You do not need to wait for the commission to arrive.

Who it affects

Officers whose names appear on this list: Regular Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve officers being promoted to Col, LtCol, Maj, and Capt, effective 1 May 2026. June 2026 projected promotions are also included for planning purposes.

Note: The MARADMIN text provided was truncated partway through the Capt promotion list. If you are a Capt selectee and do not see your name here, check the full message at the link below. Your unit S-1 will have the complete list.

What you need to do

If you are a selectee:

  1. Confirm your name appears on the full MARADMIN (link below).
  2. Coordinate with your CO or adjutant to schedule the promotion ceremony.
  3. Do not wait for the paper commission. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to arrive and is not required.
  4. For sample commissions and the oath of office, go to www.Marines.mil, navigate to Marines / Career / Promotions / Officer Promotions, and check the Reference tab.

If you are a commanding officer or S-1: This MARADMIN is your authority to promote. No separate CMC message is needed beyond this one.

  • 1 May 2026: Effective date for rank, pay, and allowances for all May 2026 promotees.
  • 4 to 6 weeks out: Expected delivery window for paper commission certificates (not required to promote).
