The Marine Corps is actively recruiting volunteers to lateral move into MOS 4133, the MCCS Marine field. M&RA has designated 4133 as a critical force skill shortage, and demand for qualified Marines is expected to stay high. This MARADMIN lays out who qualifies, what the process looks like, and what the commitment requires.
Heads up: This MARADMIN explicitly does not apply to the Marine Corps Reserve. Reservists do not need to act on this.
Who it affects
Active-duty Marines only. Specifically, Corporals (no time in grade requirement) and junior Sergeants (no more than 2 years TIG, not in the promotion zone) from any MOS who meet the prerequisites below. Reserve Marines are explicitly excluded.
What you need to do
This is an awareness item for reservists. Nothing to do. Just know it exists in case an active-duty peer or a Marine you mentor asks about it.
For active-duty Marines reading this, the process is:
- Review the prerequisites and confirm you meet the rank, test score, clearance, and deployability requirements.
- Contact your Career Counselor to find the nearest MCCS SNCOIC and request an interview.
- Gather your documents at least three days before the interview: RELM package with OIC/SNCOIC signatures, completed First Term Evaluation Sheet, security clearance verification letter, and a one-paragraph personal statement on why you want to be an MCCS Marine.
- Complete the interview (in person, by phone, or virtually) with a MGySgt, MSgt, or GySgt serving in the MOS.
- Coordinate your reenlistment or extension with your Career Counselor. Approval requires a minimum 48-month service obligation.
