The FY26 Reserve SNCO Promotion Selection Board convenes 8 July 2026 at Marine Corps Base Quantico and runs for about seven weeks. It covers all SMCR, IMA, and IRR Marines in grades E-5 through E-8 being considered for the next rank. If you're eligible, there are actions you need to take before that date, and a hard cutoff for any correspondence you want the board to see.
★ Affects all reservists: If you're an E-5 through E-8 in SMCR, IMA, or IRR, check your PME status, your contract end date, and your OMPF before 8 July 2026.
Who it affects
Any SMCR, IMA, or IRR Marine in grades E-5 through E-8 who is eligible for promotion consideration. Your component and category are locked in as of 2359 EST on 7 July 2026. If you transfer between SMCR, IMA, IRR, or active component after that date, it does not change your board eligibility.
What you need to do
PME (this is the most common trip wire):
For Sergeants competing for SSgt, the minimum requirement is completing the MarineNet course EPME5000BA before the board convenes. If you don't have it done, you're ineligible and it counts as a failure of selection. That is not a warning. That is the rule.
Completing a resident or seminar course puts you in a higher-qualified category:
- Resident Sergeants Course (course code
T4M) - Sergeants Course Seminar (course code
315) - Reserve Sergeants Course (course code
CFF)
Marines in or recently reassigned from BMOS 8411, 8421, 8156, 0913, 8152, 8154, or 0911 (including those who served in a 0911 billet in a permanent capacity within the past 365 days at OCS Quantico or Newport) only need the MarineNet course.
For GySgt and above, you must complete the PME required for the grade you're being considered for before the board convenes.
Contract end date (RECC):
If your Reserve End of Current Contract (RECC) date falls before 30 September 2026 as of the day the board convenes, you will be administratively removed from consideration. Submit a reenlistment or extension request now to push your RECC past that cutoff. This MARADMIN is the authority to locally extend you.
Personnel file:
Review your Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) record and your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) for accuracy. Details on what to update and how are on the MMPB-11 website (see below).
Board correspondence:
If you want to submit anything to the President of the Board, it must be received no later than 2359 EST on 27 June 2026.
MOS feeder tables:
The MARADMIN includes extensive MOS feeder tables showing which PMOS competes for which Intended MOS (IMOS) at the next grade. There are separate tables for each promotion level (Sgt to SSgt, SSgt to GySgt, GySgt to MSgt, MSgt to MGySgt, 1stSgt to SgtMaj). Check the official MARADMIN (linked below) to confirm where your MOS falls.
