CMC released the April 2026 promotion authority for second lieutenants moving to first lieutenant. Twenty-four officers are named. The MARADMIN is the legal authority for commanding officers to act. The physical commission will arrive separately in four to six weeks, but commands do not need to wait for it.
Bottom line: If your name is on this list, your CO can promote you now. The commission in the mail is not required.

What you need to do
If your name is on the list: Your CO will notify you and direct you to start wearing 1stLt insignia. At that point, you are considered to have accepted the promotion. If you want to decline, you must submit a written declination to CMC (MMPB-10) immediately when your command notifies you. Any action or statement signaling acceptance permanently waives your right to decline.
If you are a commanding officer: You may effect the promotion now. Do not wait for the physical commission. If you have concerns about an officer's mental, physical, moral, or professional qualification, you must notify CMC (MMPB-10) and the officer in writing before the effective date and do not effect the promotion in MCTFS.
If you are not on the list: Nothing to do.

- Physical commissions: expect delivery to parent commands within 4 to 6 weeks
