The Marine Corps released the FY26 non-SDA meritorious promotion selections for SSgt and GySgt on 24 March 2026. Promotions are authorized on receipt of this MARADMIN, but cannot be effected before 2 April 2026. That date is both the date of rank and the effective date for everyone on the list.

Bottom line: If your name is on this list, your promotion date is 2 April 2026, and you must have 24 months of obligated service remaining by that date or you will not be promoted.

Who it affects

The Marines named in the list below, drawn from active and reserve components across multiple commands. This is not a general-population message. It applies only to the individuals selected.

What you need to do

If you are on the list:

  1. Confirm you have at least 24 months of obligated service (OBS) remaining as of 2 April 2026.
  2. If you do not, work with your unit career counselor or unit representative to complete a NAVMC 321A extension. Cite this MARADMIN as authority. Only the Commanding Officer (or someone serving in an acting capacity) may sign as the Administering Officer.
  3. If you have a draw case code (DCC) of AF, AH, AX, or AY, your extension cannot be done locally. Submit through the Total Force Retention System to MMEA at HQMC.
  4. If you are on limited duty or pending a Physical Evaluation Board (PEB), you cannot be extended under this authority. Contact your chain of command.
  5. If you refuse to extend or reenlist to meet OBS requirements, your commander must notify CMC (MMPB-11).

If you are a commander:

Promote selected Marines no earlier than 2 April 2026. Cite this MARADMIN as authority. Do not enter the promotion in the Marine Corps Total Forces System (MCTFS) for any Marine who has not met OBS requirements.
