The Marine Corps released the April 2026 SNCO promotion numbers on 23 March 2026. Promotions are effective no earlier than 1 April 2026. This covers both the FY25 and FY26 promotion lists, across grades from Staff Sergeant through Sergeant Major and Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Heads up: If your EAS is before 31 March 2028, you cannot be promoted, regardless of where your seniority number falls.

Who it affects

Active duty SNCOs and SNCO selectees on the FY25 and FY26 promotion lists. Reserve Marines selected for promotion to SNCO grades should also pay attention, particularly to the OBS and EAS requirements, which apply regardless of component. Confirm specifics with your S-1 or command.

What you need to do

If you're in a promotion zone, verify two things before your seniority number comes up:

  1. Your EAS is 31 March 2028 or later.
  2. You are in compliance with Obligated Service requirements.

If you meet your OBS requirement after your seniority number is reached, your date of rank and effective date will be pushed to the 1st of the following month. Don't let a paperwork gap cost you a month of pay and seniority.

For details on OBS, Sequenced PME requirements, and commander requirements, the Enlisted Promotions website has the specifics. Navigate to manpower.marines.mil and go to Divisions / Manpower Management / Performance-Branch / Promotion-Section / Enlisted Promotions / SNCOs / Monthly Promotion Requirements.
