The Marine Corps released the April 2026 SNCO promotion numbers for Reserve and AR components. Commanders may promote selected Marines on or after 1 April 2026, citing this MARADMIN as authority. Projections for May and June are included but are estimates only.

Bottom line: If you're on an FY25 or FY26 SNCO promotion list, check your seniority number against the tables and confirm your obligated service is squared away before your number comes up.

Who it affects

SMCR and IRR SNCOs (SSgt through SgtMaj/MGySgt) on FY25 promotion lists, and AR SNCOs on FY26 lists. Also relevant to commanders and S-1s who execute these promotions.

What you need to do

If you're on a list, check your seniority number against the tables below. Two things can hold up your promotion:

  1. Confirm your Expiration of Active Service or Reserve Expiration of Current Contract runs to 31 March 2028 or later. If it doesn't, you are not eligible to promote.
  2. Confirm you've met Obligated Service (OBS) requirements. If your number comes up before you're in compliance, your date of rank and effective date get pushed to the 1st of the following month after you comply.

For details on OBS, sequenced PME requirements, and commander checklists, go to https://www.manpower.marines.mil and navigate: Divisions > Manpower Management > Performance-Branch > Promotion-Section > Enlisted Promotions > SNCOs > Monthly Promotion Requirements.

Key dates

  • 1 April 2026: Earliest date commanders may effect April promotions
  • May 2026: Projected next promotion increment (numbers below)
  • June 2026: Second projection included in this MARADMIN

Note: June projections for SMCR come from the FY25 list. June projections for AR come from the FY26 list. "No promotions (TIG)" means time-in-grade requirements aren't yet met.
