The Marine Corps released the FY26 approved selections to gunnery sergeant on 13 March 2026. If you're on the list in paragraph 4 of MARADMIN 106/26, your promotion will be filled by seniority number. Separate MARADMINs will announce your specific promotion month. The big immediate action item is obligated service (OBS): you need 24 months of OBS at the time of promotion, and you may need to reenlist or extend now to avoid a delay.

Do this: If you're on the list and your EAS won't cover 24 months past your projected promotion date, submit your reenlistment or extension request now. This MARADMIN is your authority to do it.

Who it affects

Any Staff Sergeant selected on this list. The list covers a large number of selectees across a wide range of MOS fields. If you're not sure whether your name appears, check the full selectee roster on the Enlisted Promotions website (see link below) or confirm with your S-1.

Commanders: you are responsible for counseling every selected Marine in your command within 30 days of this MARADMIN's release.

What you need to do

If you're a selectee:

  1. Check your seniority number against the projection table below to find your estimated promotion month.
  2. Determine whether your current EAS covers 24 months past that promotion date. If it does not, you are short on OBS.
  3. If you're short, submit a reenlistment or extension request immediately. Cite MARADMIN 106/26 as your authority.
  4. If you refuse to extend or reenlist, your commander must notify MMPB-11 by naval letter. You will be removed from the list and will not be eligible for future boards.

If you're a commander:

Counsel all selected Marines in your command on the OBS requirement within 30 days of this MARADMIN. The full selection roster with each Marine's seniority number, projected promotion date, and required end-of-service date will be available for download within 5 days of release.

Estimated projection table (use your seniority number to find your approximate promotion month):
