Marines can now use the M17 Romeo red dot for pistol quals

The Marine Corps updated MARADMIN 095/26 with a single change: Marines can now use the M17 Romeo red dot optic during Combat Pistol Program (CPP) qualifications. The optic is unit-funded, meaning it goes through the using unit as a responsibility item. Everything else in MARADMIN 095/26 stays in effect.

Bottom line: If your unit has the M17 Romeo red dot (NSN 1240-01-713-9795), you can now use it for CPP quals.

Who it affects

Any Marine who shoots CPP qualifications, active or reserve. If your unit has M17s and is drawing or managing the Romeo red dot optic, this affects your range planning and qual paperwork.

What you need to do

If you run ranges or manage marksmanship at the unit level, note that the M17 Romeo red dot is now an authorized optic for CPP quals. Coordinate with your armory and S-4 on whether your unit has the optic on hand (NSN 1240-01-713-9795). No action required for individual Marines unless you're scheduled for a CPP qual.
