The Marine Corps Safety Division is calling for participation in the annual Safety Operational Advisory Group (SOAG) meeting, April 28-30, 2026, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The meeting runs alongside Modern Day Marine. This is a working forum, not a conference for everyone. It's aimed at safety professionals and stakeholders who work these issues at the enterprise level.

Heads up: Registration is required, but there is no cost for military and civilian government personnel.

Who it affects

Ground safety officers, occupational health professionals, and headquarters subject matter experts across Fleet Marine Forces and the supporting establishment. Primarily those working safety and risk management at the Division, MEF, and MARFOR levels, including supporting and training commands. If you're in a safety billet or adjacent role, this is relevant to you. If you're not, it likely isn't.

What you need to do

  1. Register online at https://moderndaymarine.com (on-site registration is also available).
  2. Plan travel for Monday, April 27 (travel in) and Friday, May 1 (travel out), as those are the authorized travel days.
  3. Wear Service "C" during the event. Civilians wear business casual.
  4. Plan transportation early. Parking near the convention center is limited. Shuttle options run from Quantico and from Henderson Hall (Pentagon area). Units can also request a free bus. See https://moderndaymarine.com/travel-information for bus schedules and unit bus requests.
