HQMC Reserve Affairs just published the Calendar Year 2026 slate for RC SgtMaj billets at the O-6 level. Four positions are open across the country, with assignments targeted for April 2027. If you're a SgtMaj who meets the eligibility criteria, you need to get your package together and submitted by 11 April 2026.
Bottom line: SgtsMaj applying for an O-6 level billet must submit a complete package to HQMC RA by 11 April 2026, or it will not be considered.
Who it affects
This is only for RC SgtsMaj. Specifically:
- SgtsMaj on their initial O-5 assignment who will have at least 24 months on station by March 2027 (based on DJPU)
- SgtsMaj on a subsequent O-5 assignment who will have at least 12 months on station by March 2027 (based on DJPU)
All applicants must also:
- Have at least 24 months of service remaining to obligate upon assignment (Enlisted Career Force Controls apply)
- Meet height/weight or BCP standards and be current on PFT/CFT and medical/dental readiness
- Be worldwide deployable
- Possess or be in the process of eligibility determination for a Top Secret clearance
- Not be approved for retirement or transferred to the retired reserve awaiting pay
What you need to do
Build a complete application package and email it as a single PDF to Reserve_Affairs_SGTMAJ@usmc.mil by 11 April 2026.
Email subject line must be exactly:
CY26 SMCR O6 Slate Package ICO SgtMaj Last Name, First Name
PDF file name must follow this format:
EDIPI_Rank_LNAME.PDF (e.g., 123456789_SgtMaj_Applicant)
Submissions not in this format will be deleted without review.
Your package must include:
- NAVMC 10274 (AA Form) addressed to the Director, Reserve Affairs (Attn: SgtMaj)
- Current height/weight or BCP verification
- Security verification letter
- Signed Reserve Qualification Summary (RQS) using NAVMC 10476, September 2016 version only. Any other version will be rejected.
- Official photograph (per MARADMIN 582/25)
- Chain of command endorsement in standard naval letter format, routed through your first O-6 in the chain. A CG endorsement is not required.
Before submitting, make sure your OMPF is accurate and current. Update it through the Official-Records Management Application (O-RMA) at https://www.manpower.usmc.mil/orma/.
Once selected, you must be ready to accept orders by the listed assignment date, coordinate directly with the gaining unit for check-in and turnover, and begin a reenlistment or extension to establish a valid RECC for a full tour. Tours at O-6 command SgtMaj billets run 24 to 36 months. An Inter-Unit Transfer (IUT) will be submitted through the Requirements, Transition, and Manpower Management System (RTAMMS) to HQMC RA.
