MCTFS is getting a new tool to flag potential PEBD errors

The Marine Corps is deploying an automated alert inside Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) that scans personnel records and flags potential Pay Entry Base Date (PEBD) errors. The system runs monthly, compares your service history in your D188 remark against your recorded PEBD, and fires a "PEBD Risk" advisory if something doesn't line up. This matters because your PEBD drives your longevity pay. A wrong PEBD means wrong pay, in either direction.

Heads up: If you have prior service, a broken service period in your record, or any history of tuition assistance or Reserve component time, your record is more likely to get flagged. Check your MOL now, before an advisory finds you.

Who it affects

This applies to the total force, Active and Reserve. Reserve Marines with prior service, broken service periods, or any non-standard enlistment history are at higher risk of having a PEBD discrepancy. The system goes live sometime in FY26 Q2 (roughly January through March 2026), so advisories could start appearing soon.

What you need to do

If you get a PEBD Risk notification in MOL:

  1. Log into MOL and read the advisory.
  2. Contact your servicing PAC or reporting unit through an Electronic Personnel Admin Request (EPAR) to open a review.
  3. Pull together any Key Supporting Documents that cover your prior service periods (discharge documents, service records, contracts) and give them to your PAC.
  4. Follow up. Your PAC will validate your service history using your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) and D188 remark. If the PEBD itself is wrong, your PAC escalates the case to MMPB-21 for correction.

If you do NOT get a notification, you are not automatically in the clear. Missing service data can cause a wrong PEBD even without triggering an advisory. It is your responsibility to make sure all your service periods are documented in your record. If you know you have gaps, get your supporting documents to your PAC now.

The PEBD correction mailbox (for PAC and unit use, not individual Marines) is SMB_Pay_Entry_Base_Date_Correction@usmc.mil.

Key dates

  • FY26 Q2 (approximately January through March 2026): system goes into production and advisories begin generating. The MARADMIN does not give a specific go-live date.
