CMC released the February 2026 SNCO promotion figures for AR, SMCR, and IRR Marines. Promotions are effective no earlier than 1 February 2026. Commanders cite this MARADMIN as the authority to promote. If you're on an FY25 list, your seniority number determines when you get picked up.

Heads up: You must have an Expiration of Active Service or Reserve Expiration of Current Contract dated 31 January 2028 or later to be promoted. If you don't, you won't get promoted when your number comes up.

Who it affects

SNCO-selects (SSgt through SgtMaj/MGySgt) on FY25 promotion lists across all three Reserve components: AR, SMCR, and IRR. This MARADMIN is Reserve-only.

What you need to do

  1. Find your seniority number on your promotion list.
  2. Check it against the tables below for your component and grade.
  3. Confirm your contract expiration date covers 31 January 2028 or later. If it doesn't, get with your S-1 before your number comes up.
  4. Check sequenced PME compliance. If you're not in compliance when your number is reached, your date of rank slips to the 1st of the month after you complete it.
  5. For full OBS and PME requirements, go to https://www.manpower.marines.mil and navigate: Divisions / Manpower Management / Performance-Branch / Promotion-Section / Enlisted Promotions / SNCOs / Monthly Promotion Requirements.

Key dates

  • 1 Feb 2026: Earliest date commanders may effect promotions from this list.
  • Mar 2026 and Apr 2026: Projected promotion windows also published (see tables).
  • 31 Jan 2028: Minimum contract/active service expiration required to be promoted.
