The Marine Corps Communications Electronics School (MCCES) and Information Command, Control, Communications, Computers (IC4) have put out the FY26 registration guidance for 06XX and 28XX occupational field courses. The process itself has not changed from last year. What this message gives you is the current course list, CID numbers, registration emails, deadlines, and the steps to pull a funding letter out of Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS).

Bottom line: If you have 06XX or 28XX Marines who need career-progression or skills courses this fiscal year, submissions go by encrypted email now, and MCTIMS is the only authoritative record of enrollment status.

Who it affects

06XX (communications) and 28XX (ground electronics maintenance) Marines across all components. Leaders at every level, including Comms Chiefs, Maintenance Chiefs, and SNCOICs, are the ones responsible for submitting requests. This is not a self-registration process.

What you need to do

For 06XX Marines, submit seat requests by encrypted email to smb_ic4_06occfld_trng_req@usmc.mil.

For 28XX Marines, Maintenance Officers and Chiefs submit seat requests to both:

  • ryan.t.moore@usmc.mil
  • vani.batta.civ@usmc.mil

For units under MARFORPAC or MARFORCOM requesting local Communications Training Center (CTC) courses:

  • MARFORPAC: smb.marforpac.formal@usmc.mil
  • MARFORCOM: omb.marforcom.formal@usmc.mil

Every email must be:

  • Encrypted via CAC/PKI
  • Marked "CUI" if it contains PII
  • Submitted with the information in the body only. No attachments. Emails with attachments will not be processed.

Required information in the email body:

  1. Course Identification Code (CID)
  2. Class ID
  3. EDIPI
  4. Full name (last, first, MI)
  5. Comms Chief, Maintenance Chief, or SNCOIC name and email

To check funding status and pull a funding letter from MCTIMS:

  1. Go to https://mctims.usmc.mil/
  2. Hover over MCTIMS (top left) and select the student registrar module
  3. Search by course ID or course title (example: M09DRX1 or "MAGTF Communications Planner")
  4. In the class list tab, find the correct class number (example: 2026010)
  5. Click the down arrow and select "View Allocations"
  6. Click "Class Roster" at the bottom of the page
  7. Locate the student's name
  8. Check funding status. It must say "Approved." If blank or pending, contact IC4.
  9. Click the down arrow and select "Generate Funding Letter"

All students must have a Government Travel Charge Card. Units are responsible for funding travel if the student is not co-located with a CTC.

If a Marine's EAS falls within 12 months of course completion, a letter of intent to reenlist must accompany the enrollment request.

IC4 recommends every Marine in these fields get a MCTIMS account to monitor their own registration and schedule changes.

Key dates

  • Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force courses: Registration request due 21 days before report date
  • Army courses: Registration request due 45 days before report date
  • Cancellations within 30 days of course start: Must come from the Comms/Maintenance Chief or Senior Enlisted Advisor, submitted to the appropriate SMB
  • Seat priority deadline: Marines who meet rank prerequisites have priority up to 90 days before the course convene date. Inside 90 days, Marines who do not yet meet the rank prerequisite may be enrolled and will not lose their seat if a waitlist forms.
  • This message expires: 1 October 2026

Waitlist priority order (if a course fills):

  1. Marines scheduled to deploy
  2. Marines returning from SDA
  3. Marines expected to be in zone for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant within the FY the course ends
  4. All others, first come first served
