The FY27 Reserve Chief Warrant Officer promotion selection boards convene on 18 February 2026 at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Boards will consider CWOs in both OTAR (Other Than Active Reserve) and AR competitive categories for promotion to CWO3, CWO4, and CWO5, but only where vacancies exist in a given MOS competitive category. Not every MOS has a board this cycle.
Heads up: Board correspondence must be received no later than 8 February 2026 (10 calendar days before convening). This is a statutory requirement. Late submissions will not be accepted, no exceptions.
Who it affects
Reserve CWOs currently on the Reserve Active-Status List (RASL) or in the AR program who are in-zone, above-zone, or below-zone for promotion to CWO3, CWO4, or CWO5. Officers must have continuously served on the RASL or Active-Duty List (or a combination) for at least one year immediately before the board convenes. Officers whose scheduled removal from the RASL falls within 90 days of 18 February 2026 will not be considered.
OTAR boards are being convened for a limited set of MOS categories at each grade. Many MOSs have no board this cycle. Check your MOS against the lists in the MARADMIN.
AR boards are limited to three MOS competitive categories:
- Personnel Officer (MOS 0170)
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Officer (MOS 6004)
- Aviation Ordnance Officer (MOS 6502)
Note: For MOS 6004 and 6502, no AR boards are being convened at any grade this cycle, only MOS 0170 has AR boards.
What you need to do
If you are a Reserve CWO who may be in-zone or above-zone, take these steps before the board convenes:
- Check your MOS against the in-zone and above-zone markers listed in MARADMIN 013/26 to confirm whether a board is being convened for your grade and MOS.
- Review and audit your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) and Master Brief Sheet (MBS).
- Review your fitness reports for accuracy.
- Check your Career Retirement Credit Report (CRCR) and Reserve Qualification Summary (RQS). OTAR officers are strongly encouraged to submit a complete RQS as board correspondence.
- Submit any board correspondence so it arrives no later than 8 February 2026. Review MARADMIN 108/25 for submission instructions.
If this cycle does not include a board for your MOS and grade, there is nothing to do. Just know where you stand for the next cycle.
